Tidemarsh University – School of Thought, Thought About Thought, and Infinite Regression
The Department of Philosophy at Tidemarsh University is dedicated to the pursuit of truth, meaning, and a working definition of either. Our faculty is currently divided on whether they exist, whether the university exists, or whether this entire catalog entry is a cruel thought experiment devised by an unseen, under-caffeinated consciousness.
Courses range from Ethics: Is Anything Technically Wrong? to Existentialism and the Fine Art of Waking Up Screaming. Students may also choose electives such as Philosophy of Mind: Please Do Not Read This While Driving, and Metaphysics: A Seminar on Things (If There Are Any).
Our faculty includes post-structuralists, pre-post-modernists, and at least one tenured professor who only communicates in questions. Office hours may occur, but whether they occur in time or merely in possibility is hotly debated.
Class discussions are lively, unresolved, and sometimes held in silence to accommodate schools of Zen. No answers are given, but excellent questions receive a strong, approving nod and a slightly cryptic smile.
Graduates often pursue careers in law, teaching, writing, or becoming that one friend who ruins movie nights by asking “But what is reality?”
At Tidemarsh, we don’t just question everything—we question the question, the questioner, and the conditional nature of questioning itself.
